Boris In Northern Ireland

“Never mind the hand of history I see the hand of the future.”

Those were the words of PM Boris Johnson in Stormont’s Great Hall earlier today.

The PM went on to say - “I cannot see any circumstances whatsoever to have checks on goods going from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.”

“For goods going from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, the ONLY circumstances for checks would be if those goods were going on to the Republic of Ireland if we have not secured a zero tariff deal with the EU.”

Boris Johnson says that the Government stands by it’s pledge of "no further unfair prosecutions" in respect of veterans.

The Taoiseach joined his British counterpart at Stormont to welcome the restoration of power-sharing but returned to Dublin without commenting on his intentions for the date of the General Election which is expected on Feb 7th-ish.
