Shapps Warns Trans Pennine Franchise



HOT on the heals of Grant Shapps taking action against the Northern rail franchise, TBG can sensationally reveal that he’s just given a warning to Trans Pennine Express who operate from as far south as Grimsby and Manchester to as far north as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The transport secretary tweeted that he had called in bosses from the company to explain the poor service passengers received in December and January and has told them they must get their act together since “I won't hesitate to escalate this further.”





Irish General Election Called For Feb 8



LABOUR launched its campaign for the Irish General Election which is on February 8 earlier.

The Party is fielding 31 candidates.

Leader Brendan Howlin says Labour wants as many progressives as possible in next Dáil.

The party hopes to double number of TDs elected.

Leadsom Welcomes Flybe Bailout

Has Long Bailey Got An Unfair Advantage Already?



WITH all the candidates for the Labour leadership ready to go and Lisa Nandy set to face the wrath of Andrew Neil tomorrow night, TBG has learned that even though she trails Keir Starmer in the polls, Rebecca Long Bailey May have an unfair advantage when it comes to Labour data.

Hence, the NEC were pressed earlier today to give all leadership candidates access to membership data before the ballot opens.

Some fear that Rebecca Long Bailey May have access to data held by Momentum while others will have far less info when seeking CLP nominations.

Boris Rejects Indy Ref II



BORIS Johnson has rejected Nicola Sturgeon’s demand for another referendum on Scottish independence.

In his written response to Ms Sturgeon, the prime minister said he had "carefully considered and noted" her arguments.

But he said: "You and your predecessor (Alex Salmond) made a personal promise that the 2014 independence referendum was a once in a generation vote.”

"The people of Scotland voted decisively on that promise to keep our United Kingdom together, a result which both the Scottish and UK governments committed to respect in the Edinburgh Agreement."


Mr Johnson said the UK government would "continue to uphold the democratic decision of the Scottish people and the promise you made to them".

He added: "For that reason, I cannot agree to any request for a transfer of power that would lead to further independence referendums".

Boris: Free Trade Lifts People Out Of Poverty



Boris Johnson gave his first major television interview since the General Election on BBC Breakfast this morning.

PM says he does not want a conflict with Iran but wants to engage instead - “The U.K. served as a bridge between European powers. Our job was to make clear our position. Our job was to work hard to avoid an escalation.”

“We have got to stop the Iranians obtaining a nuclear weapon.” Urges a Trump deal instead of JCPOA."


On the Royals: “I am a massive of the Royal and absolutely confident they will sort it out. They will sort it out much better without a running commentary from me.”

On Brexit: “I thinks it’s very likely we will get a free trade deal. This is about building a great new partnership.”

“Free trade has done more to lift people out of poverty than anything else.”


Boris said he was looking into chiming Big Ben on Brexit hour as it has been reported the decision was taken not to bong Big Ben.

On being Vegan: "It requires so much concentration. It's a crime against cheese-lovers. I take my hat off to vegans who can handle it."

On NHS: “This is our number one priority.”

“There will be 50,000 more nurses and 6,000 more GPs. 40 new hospitals and 20 new upgrades.”


On social care reform: “Nobody should sell their home to pay for the costs of care.”

PM also stated he wants county lines drugs gangs completely wound up.

European Parliament Set To Vote On Boris EU Deal



TBG can sensationally reveal that the European Parliament’s vote on the Brexit deal is pencilled in to take place at 6:00pm Brussels time on 29th Jan.

It will be in Brussels rather Strasbourg.

Senior MEPs on the European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents will decide at a meeting this week how to mark the departure of the UK from the EU.

Good News On The Economy



THE economy grew by 0.1% in the three months to November 2019. It's grown year on year since 2010 by a total of 19% which is faster than France, Italy and Japan.

UK exports rose by £5.1 billion in the 3 months to November totalling £177.5 billion over the period. British firms’ global exports totalled £679.5bn last year and 53% of goods exports went to non-EU markets. Exports of goods to non-EU markets are up 7.5%.

Boris Johnson told TBG - “By getting Brexit done on 31 Jan, we have the opportunity to negotiate trade deals with countries across the world, placing British businesses at the heart.”

Liz Truss told TBG - “It is Great to see demand for British goods in non-EU markets is growing at its fastest for over a year.”

Boris In Northern Ireland



“Never mind the hand of history I see the hand of the future.”

Those were the words of PM Boris Johnson in Stormont’s Great Hall earlier today.

The PM went on to say - “I cannot see any circumstances whatsoever to have checks on goods going from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.”

“For goods going from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, the ONLY circumstances for checks would be if those goods were going on to the Republic of Ireland if we have not secured a zero tariff deal with the EU.”


Boris Johnson says that the Government stands by it’s pledge of "no further unfair prosecutions" in respect of veterans.

The Taoiseach joined his British counterpart at Stormont to welcome the restoration of power-sharing but returned to Dublin without commenting on his intentions for the date of the General Election which is expected on Feb 7th-ish.

Patel Vows To Double Jail Terms For Attacks On Emergency Workers



PRITI Patel has this morning vowed to get tough on people who attack frontline emergency workers.

She’s pledged to double jail terms for such offenders.

The Home Secretary told TBG - “Our frontline emergency service workers have some of the toughest jobs there are.”

“They are the unsung heroes across our communities.”

“I am unapologetic about doubling the maximum sentence for assaulting workers in the emergency services.”


Momentum Behind Long Bailey



MOMENTUM have this weekend pledged to ensure that the hard left remain in control of Labour.

In a statement the left wing faction said - “This leadership election will decide the future of our party.”

“We are planning a huge people powered campaign to make sure Labour is led by a new generation of left wing MPs.”


A steering committee statement added - “Rebecca Long Bailey is the only viable candidate to build upon the socialist agenda.”

The news comes just days after Jess Phillips was forced to suspend an aide for describing Israel as “a murderer that was inflicting Holocaust conditions on Palestinians.”

LABOUR leadership hopeful Emily Thornberry has this morning told Andrew Marr that it was a "disaster" to go for an election rather than a referendum on Boris Johnson's Brexit deal.

Despite admitting she's been a slow starter in the leadership race she said, “I’m fairly confident I will get across the line.”

Emily Thornberry also said that the UK taxpayer should continue to pay for security of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

This morning Rebecca Long Bailey called for the House of Lords to be abolished.

Boris In Oman



BORIS Johnson has arrived in Muscat to offer his condolences following the death of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said of Oman.

He's at a condolence ceremony alongside the Prince of Wales, the Defence Secretary and the Chief of the Defence Staff.

Raab Says Arrest Of British Ambassador In Tehran Is Against The Law



FOREIGN Secretary, Dominic Raab, last night accused Iran of "a flagrant violation of international law" after the arrest of the British ambassador in Tehran and then released after 3 hours.

Raab told TBG - “The Iranian government is at a cross-roads moment.”

“It can continue its march towards pariah status with all the political and economic isolation that entails, or take steps to deescalate tensions and engage in a diplomatic path forwards."


It’s emerged that the ambassador was attending a vigil which evolved into a protest and was arrested on the way back to the British embassy but later released.

Hot on the heels of Boris Johnson’s statement earlier, the Security minister Brandon Lewis has this morning said that the arrest of the UK ambassador in Iran is a “completely unacceptable breach of Vienna Convention.”

He also said that the UK does wants to remain in Europol and is ambitious for security deal with EU.

BURGON'S troubles come on the same day Labour MP and leadership candidate Clive Lewis launches his campaign at the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton.

Lewis said, “One of my priorities would be to champion the cultural and economic case for stronger migration.”

Clive Lewis called for a referendum on the future of the monarchy at the launch.

Lewis currently has FOUR nominations.


Iranian Air Disaster Investigation Cover-up



A CBS News crew earlier visited the Ukrainian airlines crash site west of Tehran.

It was 9:00am local time and virtually all the pieces of the plane were removed yesterday, according to locals.

Scavengers were earlier picking the site clean too.

No security. Not cordoned off. No sign of any investigators.

EXCLUSIVE: Northern Rail Set To Lose Franchise



Northern Rail are on the brink of losing their franchise after Transport Secretary Grant Shapps took them to task in the House of Commons earlier.

Shapps told TBG - “I want trains to run reliably and on time.”

“Unacceptably this hasn’t been the case for Northern Passengers.”

“Today I’ve informed parliament of Financial Default.”

“By the end of this month I will set out the changes we will make to move towards a less fragmented, more reliable railway.”


Mr Shapps also released this written statement.
