Boris On Teeside

BORIS Johnson is visiting Teesside for the second time as the Conservatives seek to win support in two key marginal seats.

He spoke to staff at Wilton Engineering, having already visited the Ebac factory in Newton Aycliffe.

The two target seats are Stockton South, which was lost by the Conservatives to Labour at the last election, and Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, where Tory Simon Clarke holds a slim majority of just more than 1,000.

Mr Johnson told workers that they will not have to pay National Insurance until they earn £12,000 if the Conservatives are elected to power.

He told TBG: “We are going to be cutting national insurance up to £12,000.”

“We are going to be making sure that we cut business rates for small businesses.”

“We are cutting tax for working people."
