Government To Pull Brexit Vote If Letwin Wins

TBG can sensationally reveal that the Government will pull today’s Brexit vote if the Letwin amendment passes.

It will force the Prime Minister to ask for another Brexit extension beyond Oct 31st.

Boris Johnson earlier appeared to concede that the Letwin amendment will be passed.

Answering Frank Field, he says: “My fear is that the vote we have tonight will not be meaningful.”

Most of the 21 rebel Tories now say they will support the Letwin amendment AND the prime minister’s Brexit deal.

As a result, TBG understands that the Withdrawal Agreement Bill on Tuesday is now, in effect, the new Meaningful Vote.

So presumably if Boris is forced by Benn Act tonight to request three-month Brexit delay, the EU will wait until that deferred meaningful vote on Tuesday before deciding how to respond to the Benn letter request.

The news comes as another batch of MPs support the Boris deal including Ken Clarke and Henry Smith.
