Boris Could Declare Emergency

THERE'S a rumour in Westminster today that Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings could declare a national emergency by using part 2 of the Emergency Powers of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to seek to scrap the European Union Withdrawal (No6) Act 2019 and thereby avoid having to apply for extension (?).

Such a move could also suspend the Fixed Term Parliament Act and this allow Boris Johnson to call an election.

The big worry though is that it could be struck down by the courts.

Other sources have suggested Boris is drawing up plans to legally stop Brexit extension, whilst Remainers are set to amend today's Bill making it clear the PM must adhere to the law.
