EXCLUSIVE: Tory MEP Dan Hannan Slams 'Political' Arrest.

A leading Conservative MEP has today sensationally joined in the row as regards the arrest of a fellow candidate for the European Elections set to take place later this month.

TBG can exclusively reveal that South East MEP and top Tory candidate Dan Hannan has called the arrest of Liberty GB candidate, Paul Weston, last Saturday in Winchester "political".

Mr Hannan, who is the author of the book 'How We Invented Freedom' said the arrest was "a disproportionate act of policing" and totally "undemocratic".

Speaking at a public meeting at the University of Portsmouth Mr Hannan said that if such kind of an arrest was made in a country with a more "politically oppressive regime" it is the sort of thing that would have been roundly condemned here too.

Mr Weston was arrested for quoting words used by Winston Churchill in 1899 during which he quoted Muslims as "Militant".
