George Osborne has every right to say that the UK is walking tall once again in the economic world.
It is the tough decisions taken by Mr Osborne that were bitterly opposed all along by his opposite number Red Ed Balls and Labour Leader Red Ed Miliband that have led to this huge turnaround for the Chancellor and the Conservatives as a whole.
Tough decisions like capping state handouts that went out of control under Labour, tough decisions like helping businesses by cutting down on bureaucracy that bloated under Labour, tough decisions like helping to make work pay for those who want to get on in life as opposed to the easy life on benefit that we saw under Labour, tough decisions like taking a tough line on immigration that got out of control under Labour, and yes, tough decisions like rejecting the old and failed agenda of tax and spend that Mr Osborne inherited from Gordon Brown.
So when businesses see their taxes cut further later this week, when those on low incomes and the self-employed like myself see their tax thresholds rise yet again later this week, and when the new scheme that requires the long-term unemployed to do some work in return for their benefits is rolled out next week people should remember what the alternative is.
Its called handing over the keys to the people who caused the crash in the first place and is exactly why Labour should never be trusted to run Britain ever again.
