tbg can reveal that former Candidate for Deputy Chairman Political of the Tory Youth wing, Charlotte Argyle, says she is "humble and proud" to have joined the Management Board of Conservative Way Forward (CWF).
The CWF campaign group is overseeing the Margaret Thatcher legacy with a proposed library and museum. The news dominated the political headlines over the weekend, including the Sunday Telegraph, Mail on Sunday and the BBC, among others.
CWF is one of the biggest and most effective Conservative pressure groups. It aims to "defend and build upon the achievements of the Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher’s leadership, and to adapt the principles of her era in government to modern concerns and challenges".
tbg can also reveal that those endorsing the proposal include Chairman of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch, Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles MP, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin MP, Welsh Secretary David Jones MP and former Defence Secretary Liam Fox MP.
In December 2012 Argyle told a rival news-site that Thatcher is her greatest political inspiration - "Not because she was the first female prime minister, gender has nothing to do with it; but because like her, I believe in reputation above regulation, particularly in leadership and business roles."
"She fought so hard to empower the masses and give a better set of opportunities for all. Thatcher showed a strength of character rarely seen since her term in office, and was able to manage the differing personalities both domestically and globally."
Donal Blaney was recently appointed Chief Executive of the Thatcherite campaign group.
Upon taking the position at CWF, Blaney commented - "(There's) urgent need to promote and extend Thatcherite principles which represent the soul of the Conservative Party, and to adapt them to the challenges of a changing world."
tbg understands that Charlotte will also continue in her role as an Executive Committee Member of the Conservative Women’s Organisation.
