UKIP 'Ready for Action' in Portsmouth South.

Rumours have been circulating since last night about Mike Hancock MP possibly standing down and UKIP have this morning upped the anti in Portsmouth South, tbg can reveal.

The Party finished just in front of the BNP in 2010 and one source says they too are "ready for action."

The Lib Dems hold all bar one of the council seats in the South of the City with Luke Stubbs the sole Tory in Eastney Ward.

If an election were to be called, one Tory source told tbg that Grant Shapps, Michael Fabricant, Jim Fleming and Steve Bell will be the men behind the Tory Campaign to elect Flick Drummond who lost in 2010, albeit much due to a large University backing for Mr Hancock.

UPDATE

Lib Dem MP Mike Hancock has rubbished rumours by Tories in the South as a "Cheap" plot to gain publicity. Hancock says he has been unwell but is trying his best to continue his work.

In a statement Mike Hancock MP said - "These 'reports', if that's what you can even call them, are complete rubbish. It is true that I continue to be unwell, though I am fighting it."

"The false accusations began on The Blue Guerilla website before shortly spreading on Twitter. Fortunately there was no truth in the rumours whatsoever and seems to have been a cheap ploy by local Conservatives to gain publicity in Portsmouth."
