Identity theft.

With regards to the comments left on today's post: Howlett announces brand review policy. tBg knows how excitable some CF members can be at times. If you are going to use a name, make sure it's not a real person, that can get in touch and tell tBg that he did not leave that comment.

tBg suggests that if you want to remain anonymous you should probably use a permanent alias such as 'Tank_Whore2010', or maybe something more suited to your personality. It used to be very popular in the early days of the Internet for all you youthful fluffy-tailed newbies.

Is it not time for a policy on ip's and usernames. One candidate and his aliases is dragging the debate down into the gutter

Anonymous said...

Yes, Ben should be ashamed.

Jenn Taylor said...

I agree, this is getting ridiculous, if you check the IP addresses for most of the comments on the various sites there are only a few different adresses all with multiple 'aliases' each. Why bother, just use your real name and stand up to your comment!

Go away Jenn!

So now team Howlett are the holders of all IP info? more lies again.

Anonymous said...

Yes a few IP address, Howlett's and his teams!

and when you do use your real name there are accusations you do not exist.... I think that all candidates should post under their real names and encourage their supporters and campaign teams to do likewise. These posts can only be driving people away. If I was a youngster looking to join CF, these posts would not inspire.. As John Moorcroft mentioned in an earlier post 'man up' and use your own name.

It is very Interesting, First you had Howlett, then along came Michelle Donelan. Who had a decent shot at winning, Michelle got abused all over the blogs. Then you had Patrick Sullivan, Ditto. Those two pulled out. Then along comes Cavalier-Jones and very similar abuse is received, then along comes Craig Cox and the same thing happens.

In addition to that Craig has to suffer from Howlett's campaign team sending e-mail's to Labour supporting young Politicians, trying to manufacture a race row!

It's obvious to even the casual observer that Howlett has fought the dirtiest Campaign in History! The comment's are either from him or a response to him, this guy can't handle it. Look at yesterday, a small dig from Craig get's an essay back!

We have seen dirty tricks by Howlett against, Donelan, Sullivan, Cavalier-Jones and Cox. It's the reason people don't want to use their real names!

John Moorcraft said...

This campaign has been categorised by a lot of unsubstantiated accusations. I am forever seeing people say X has used dirty tricks against Y or Z has smeared A. The one thing that has been lacking in all of this is any form of concrete proof. Either put up or shut up.

I personally find this whole thing somewhat tiresome. CF should not be a playground for schoolboy politicians to fling insults at one another. It should not be a forum for the socially inept to articulate anonymous comments about the personal lives of those with the guts to actually stand for something (Mr Cox was correct to question the normality of those who hide behind the anonymous mask). It should be an indispensable resource for the Conservative Party and a pool of committed activists from which future talent emerges.

If we must attack; attack the policies of candidates. Let’s put an end to this immature nonsense and begin the process of making CF the organisation it could, should and must be.

@ John - well said. Youth politics is always full of over-ambitious snivelling little losers who think they can 'get one over' their opponent by playing dirty.

The only thing that can be said is that the more a candidate smears their opponent, the more they damage themselves.

If anon's accusations re: Howlett are true then he's playing a very risky game. If he gets caught red-handed doing this sort of thing then he surely not only deserves to be disqualified, but also expelled from CF.

@ Fred, if you went to the hustings you could have seen Howlett desperately smearing!

@Richard - how do you know I wasn't?
