Election rumblings.

tBg is receiving news this morning of emails, approaches by officials, meetings and rumors about the next set of CF elections. tBg doesn't yet have anything concrete, but tBg wants to alert you all about the wheels being in motion for two particular CF'ers.

tBg has also received news that Matthew Richardson is not running for Chair', but backing another candidate.

More to follow...

Who are the 2? Neil Martin and Claire Hilley?

theBlueGuerilla. said...

tBg has the names, tBg wont publish until he is sure. But it's not them.

Anonymous said...

errr...who cares?

the Party is at its highest point in years and CF is nowhere to be seen.

Anonymous said...

Owen "Dunce's hat" Meredith is one of them. That's a given.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm....someone with long hair and someone from Putney

mr angry said...

it's another scandal like this: http://conservativehome.blogs.com/cfdiary/2008/02/why-the-party-b.html

someone's being pushed to stand for chair from the centre- questions I want answering by those who know who you are:

1) why did the national chairman give names to the steering committee of two credible candidates who by all accounts are his closest and loyal allies

2) why did a member of the steering committee e-mail one of the candidates expressing that they'd have her full support?

i thought that cchq would have learnt by now not to get involved in cf elections but it's happening all over again and this time instead of being a female it's a male.

tbg: thanks for bringing this to our attention- no doubt it'll be denied by those involved and I look forward to seeing you publish the e-mail chain on here.

tb: bad effort- never knew you were so far up their arses.

Surely the backing of Mr Richardson is the death-knell of any candidate?

Anonymous said...

she has been very naughty indeed, never let the national chair tell you what to do

When will the email be published?

Anonymous said...

I heard one of them was Edward "Hallam" Gollum.

mr angry said...

spot on!

it is hallam and apparently he's got a lot of support from the top- i suppose they endorse successfully rigged elections.

it really makes me so angry. i feel like going to the papers with the evidence.

it makes a complete mockery of cf elections- no wonder we're a laughing stock.

Anonymous said...

true, Ed of the Dead is being proected from impeachment over the vote rogging by rock

rock asked putney to make him an offer to run for chair

Anonymous said...

Are you serious? Ed Hallam?

I am laughing so much my sides are splitting. The guy is a mess, a public relations disaster and who on earth is likely to support him?

They do say politics is showbiz for ugly people! Ed Hallam makes David Mellor look like Brad Pitt.

JUSTINE GREENING

theBlueGuerilla. said...

Less of that please, tBg considers it bullying.

LONDON SPIN NeWs said...

Wo wo woooo.....that's well out of order.

One to remove TBG?

Anonymous said...

That Hallam boy is scary!!

Adele Douglas said...

Anon 11:53 - that post is ridiculously out of order. Other than the fact its just downright nasty, its not even remotely funny. I don't care what you think of ABB (or any other member of the exec, myself included) but I don't think callinig people "sluts" and "cunts" is particularly helpful. Now go away and grow up.

Anonymous said...

Yet Adele doesn't even attempt to deny the main beef of the story. Must be true. I think in the light of all that information being called a cunt or a slut isn't really that bad!

Welsh Tory Boy said...

I think you’re all fucking cunts

theBlueGuerilla. said...

It's not about name calling, it's about having respect for others. Treating them how you expect to be treated.

Adele Douglas said...

Anon - its not up to me to deny or confirm rumours about another CF member. I don't profess to know everything about ABB's life, and she is more than capeable of defending herself on those counts. But I do think that the bitchy tone of the post and the language used was out of order and don't see why I should stand by and tolerate a friend of mine being called a slut.
If you're going to insult someone, at least try to be witty.

Welsh Tory Boy said...

By your logic TBG, you’re suggesting either Anastasia has committed sins that mean she deserves the post above or that the anonymous poster has just committed a sin by behaving like a complete fucktard that means we can now post nonsense about him/her at will. Which is it?

Anonymous said...

Adele - can you define slut and then categorically say that it doesn't apply to ABB?

Just an interesting exercise...

theBlueGuerilla. said...

tBg doesn't think that having respect for people leads to either of those conclusions. Now lets not get distracted.

Adele Douglas said...

Anon - I don't see why anything to do with Anastasia's sexuality is any of your business. If she's gay, straight or bisexual, whether she's slept with one person or one thousand, whatever she does in her private life makes no odds to me. And that applies to all my friends - I couldn't give a toss who people sleep with.
If CF has become about judging people for their private lives, then I can safely say it's no longer the organisation I joined. And, unless there is NOTHING hidden away in your life that you'd rather the whole world didn't know about, you're in no position to judge ABB or anybody else. Why can't people just live and let live?

But as that comment is in completely poor taste and doesn't deal really with anything to do with this blog post, why have you allowed it to remain.

You've the ability to delete it?

It adds nothing to the ongoing debate that is speculative at best and just serves to show how incredibly juvenile some members are.

theBlueGuerilla. said...

"and just serves to show how incredibly juvenile some members are" - Which is exactly why it should stay Alister. tBg doesn't censor, but asks for responsibility from his readers.

Alister J. Cooling said...

There is a difference between censorship and removing a comment.

As this very blog has shown, we are viewed by a wider audience than just Members of the CF world, so comments like this only add to the external view that we are ALL silly juvenile wannabes.

Obviously your blog, your choice though old Man.

Tory Bear said...

Nasty stuff,

Would get rid of it.

Anonymous said...

Anyway, we are getting sidetracked.

If Gollum has been offered the top job, serious questions need to be asked.

Anonymous said...

I'd suggest you remove the post for being libellous as much as anything else.

Anonymous said...

This is CF. Keep the post.

Welsh Tory Boy said...

Always a good test of those who believe in freedom of speech. Those who believe in the right of people to say whatever they want must support the post remaining. All credit to Anastasia, who has seemingly risen above it.

La Vielle Garde said...

Peterkin is apparently running. Be great to see him on a hustings with Rock and Hallam.

Anonymous said...

Haha. Now that would be a joke. If Peterkin did run, that would officially mark the end of CF. Totalitarianism would be the new regime. Ha, actually, it would be quite funny to watch.

Richard Holloway said...

There's free speech and then there is downright libel that is malicious, untrue and simply evil comment against another human being.

Remove it, free speech has its limits and this is one of them.

Anonymous said...

Scary Hallam was the author, he's trying to smear ABB so he can win the race for chairman

Welsh Tory Boy said...

free speech has its limits and this is one of them.

:-)

That comment is so philosophically all over the place its quite remarkable

Not at all, obviously you've never studied any philosophy.

Perhaps this article will enlighten you a little.

I teach philisophy and political theory to undergraduates at a Russell Group university. Does that count?

Welsh Tory Boy said...

And I clearly don’t teach IT or English as the aforementioned posts demonstrates!

Anonymous said...

Then if you're so happy with the freedom of speech you enjoy, why post under an alias?

Welsh Tory Boy said...

I suspect I post under an alias for the same reasons that Guido Fawkes, Tory Bear, Dizzy and TBG do. I work in a position where posting under my real name could cost me my career.

A philosophical answer to your question however would be to suggest that the right to freedom of thought and expression extends to the freedom to post under whatever moniker or pseudonym takes my fancy. I can never understand those who suggest we must all post under our own names. Sounds a bit like force to me!

Anyway, this is a huge thread drift. Back to CF I say :-)

"Haha. Now that would be a joke. If Peterkin did run, that would officially mark the end of CF. Totalitarianism would be the new regime. Ha, actually, it would be quite funny to watch."

Would be better than rule by twats from PC World, which is what we have now. At least there would be some swagger and some panache.

Welsh Tory Boy maybe you should read up on the defamation act 1996.
